How PPRC Fittings Work

PPRC fittings join to PPRC pipe by heat fusion. The pipe end and the inside of the fitting are heated on a fusion machine and pushed together, forming a single solid joint. Fittings with a brass insert, called “metal” fittings, have a threaded end so you can connect a tap, mixer, geyser or other threaded item. Each fitting is named by the pipe size it fits, for example a 25mm elbow fits a 25mm pipe.

Elbows change the direction of the line. A standard elbow turns 90 degrees, a 45 degree elbow makes a gentler turn, and a reducer elbow turns the corner while stepping down to a smaller size. Female and male metal elbows have a brass thread for connecting taps or other threaded fittings.

PPRC Socket Price List

Sockets join two straight pieces of pipe. Reducer sockets connect two different sizes, for example 32mm to 25mm. Male and female metal sockets convert a PPRC line to a threaded connection.

How to Choose PPRC Fittings

Match the size exactly. A fitting must match the pipe’s outer diameter. A 25mm pipe needs 25mm fittings.
Match threads to your fixtures. Most taps and muslim showers in Pakistan use a 1/2 inch thread, so tap points are usually a 20mm or 25mm PPRC fitting with a 1/2 inch female metal outlet.
Add valves for each wet area. A valve for each bathroom means you can repair one area without shutting off the whole house.
Put unions near anything you may remove. Pumps, geysers and filters all need servicing at some point.
Buy a few extras. Keep spare elbows and sockets for mistakes and last-minute changes on site.

Installation Tips

Mark the insertion depth on the pipe before heating so it goes fully into the fitting.
Line up metal outlets carefully before the joint cools; once fused, they cannot be rotated.
Wrap thread tape on metal threads when fitting taps, and do not over-tighten into the brass insert.
Pressure-test the line with plugs or end caps on open points before plastering.

What is the difference between a female and male metal fitting?

A female metal fitting has the thread inside, so a tap or male nipple screws into it. A male metal fitting has the thread outside and screws into a female threaded item.

Which fittings do I need for one bathroom?
